The Look: Boy’s Night Out

This is another one for the boys.

Boys, if you have a night out planned, here is an easy step by step guide to looking fresh while keeping it simple.

STEP 1: Find a great pair of jeans.

When I say a great pair of jeans, I mean a nice darker wash pair with minimal distressing that fits. YES - fitted. Relax, when I say fitted, it does NOT mean that they have to be Bieber ball suffocated skinny jeans. Fitted means just fitted enough that without a belt, they wont fall to your ankles - it’s that simple.

Try a dark wash a slim, straight or even a bootcut. The great thing about a dark straight leg is that it can be paired with anything, so finding a top to match will be easy. If you’re the type of guy that has thicker thighs, then it’s definitely going to be harder to find the right fit. So try a straight leg cut. The reason behind doing a straight cut instead of a bootcut it because if you have bigger thighs a straighter cut may balance out your legs little more than a bootcut - which may look more like a flare on you - and it’s 2012 so not the look you want to go for.

Try: The Gap, Levi’s, Jack & Jones, etc.

STEP 2: Pair it with a nice shirt.

Now that you have a great pair of jeans, pair it with a super fly shirt. This part of the outfit you can get a little funky with. But, when I say a nice shirt that doesn’t mean a graphic tee from Guess or Armani Exchange. Unless you want to look like you washed up on the jersey shore, try a button down shirt.

Try: H&M, Urban Outfitters, ASOS, etc.

STEP 3: Get a blazer.

If a blazer is a new concept for you here’s the low down. Use it like a lightjacket. Just through it on to finish off any outfit. If this is you’r first blazer, try one in a neutral colour - which, again, will make it easy to pair with the rest of your outfit.

Try: H&M, Zara, Banana Republic, etc.

STEP 4: Keep the hair simple and the shoes classy.

Keep the hair simple - no girl wants a guy to spend more time on his hair then she spends on hers. AND get sleek pair of dress shoes for when you go out for dinner or to a classier club - preferably leather.

Try: Aldo, Spring, Town Shoes, etc.

Okay, so that was a little longer than I anticipated. BUT, now you know a food proof way to simply look fresh at the club or even out for dinner.

Michael kors swimwear, $327; Alexander Wang one piece bikini, $281; ASOS bandeau swimwear, $49.

The Look: The Scuba Suit

Ready for a new swimsuit? I know am. Well, not really, I have an endless supply in my closet - but - let’s be honest, I always want another one.
Here’s my next must have for my swim collection. The Scuba Swimsuit. Fabulous cut, great coverage and a super fun and sporty design that will compliment your fabulous figure.
The ones I’ve laid out for you are all a different take on this type of swimsuit.
In the middle: an Alexander Wang dual tone suit - perfect for coverage and chic style.
To the left: a funky and sporty Michael Kors suit - again, has lots of coverage and comes in bold colours for a more fun feel.
To the right: a strapless ASOS suit - a more sleek and sexy take on the scuba swimsuit trend and at an awesome price.
What’s great about these suits is that they have the perfect amount of coverage, but even though it’s a more sporty design, the zipper down the front leaves room for a little sex-appeal.
If you’re looking for a swimsuit with a little something more, and you’re tired of the monokini or mix&match, then try the scuba style swimsuit. It’s chic, figure flattering, sleek and sexy.

So what’s been catching my eye lately? Well, with summer inching closer I’m really loving the beach scene.

Although I love a little sand, sun, waves and hot tans - this isn’t exactly the beach scene I’m thinking of.

The beach scene print is all the rage - gracing the designs of hot Jimmy Choo clutches and sleek swimsuits.

This fun print is the perfect way to play with colour and design by adding a light and bright piece to your outfit.

The Look: Twisted Tangerine

A great make-up artist friend of mine, Shanelle, let me in on a little secret: One of the top grossing lip colours for spring - HOT Tangerine.
When I hear tangerine, I think orange - carrots, Garfield, that sort of thing. But here’s the deal, this twisted tangerine is so much more than just a secondary orange. The best way I can think to describe this tertiary hue is tangerine tango. It’s 3 parts zesty tangerine and 1 part spicy tango red.
Now, this colour looks super hot on lips, but I’ve been noticing it popping off the pages in all of my magazines. A lovely lady wearing this twisted tangerine is super hot and hard to miss.
Standout from the crowd in spring’s trendiest haute hue - Twisted Tangerine Tango!

1 Blazer, 4 Looks

This is a perfect example of how to make one great blazer work with several different outfits.

To start: pick a blazer with a simple cut and a neutral colour - this blazer is a boyfriend cut for an oversized look and in a nude colour which allows it to be mixed and matched with many different outfits.

Outfit #1: Simple, laid-back, summer look. High-waisted jean shorts - I’m in LOVE with MinkPink’s slashers shown above - with a light-weight simple white v-neck tee, comfy brown leather sandal, fedora and a great bag like this this Burberry one. The cross-body bag mixes a gorgeous summery blue with a brown leather to bring it back to a more neutral tone which again makes it easy to wear with lots of different outfits. Throw on the blazer for a comfy but cute daytime look.

Outfit#2: Play with some bright colours. This super fun bright neon maxi skirt is so cute paired with this House of Dereon studded bustier. Neon is always a fun and bright way to make an outfit more exciting and it’s perfect for spring/summer. The dual tone wedges and handbag tie the whole outfit together. Again, pop on the perfect blazer and this look will have you catching glimpses all over town.

Outfit #3: The floral skinny. These Current/Elliot floral denim skinnies are retro sweet and chic for spring. With these fabulous Steve Madden block heels, it throws this look back in time a few decades. To make make this outfit 2012 modern, try the drapey and soft wilfred blouse with a few aqua bangles and slim-banded watch. With the blazer on top, this retro-rooted look is always appropriate.

Outfit #4: Aritzia’s T. Babaton Sleeveless Sabrina blouse is adorable with it’s mod cut and tux inspired design. Pair it with these Alexander Wang black leather shorts and black slippers like these velvet Sam Edelman’s for mod but edgy look. Throw on the nude blazer and grab a cute black clutch to finish off the outfit.

What to Wear Today?

Threads.
I dedicate this look to the fabulous weather that makes me happy to get out of bed and let the sun shine down around me.

A look like this is simple but stylish. It can be mixed and matched to fit into any wardrobe.

Pastels and bright colours are perfect for this gorgeous day. A floral or pastel printed top is the perfect way to add some energy and fun to your outfit. A tank like shown above is a great example of how to do this and with an a-line cut like that, it’s shape is very forgiving, making it perfect for any woman’s fabulous curves.

I paired the shirt with a great coloured denim, brown sandals, a cute striped messenger and some oversized sunglasses.

This outfit is simple enough for a busy girl to throw on and with the denim shirt on top, it’s a layering piece that adds warmth for the colder parts of the day all while looking super cute and stylish.

Band of Outsiders Fall RTW 2012

Spotlight.
Scott Sternberg has done it again. His latest collection for Band of Outsiders is, yet again, a beautiful work that I want every last piece of.
Inspired by a trip to Mexico city, it’s a southern flair on fall fashion. Long, flowing maxi skirts and trousers, oversized ponchos and sweaters, creamy ivories and dusty browns were the main staples of the collection.
Cute prints played into the southern feel. But to combat the sweetie-pie style, Sternberg would throw in some bold and bright curve balls which balanced the collection effortlessly. When he did colour - he made it deep, rich and perfectly intertwined with the southern inspired collection.
Band of Outsiders Fall RTW 2012 collection is adorable and sweet while still being a perfectly bold look for fall. Scott Sternberg hit a home run with this collection and it’s just effortlessly southern sass chicness.
